American Hybrid Cars

American hybrid cars are way behind the Japanese auto makers. Daimler Chrysler plans to come out with a Dodge Ram Contractor Special.

Mercedes displayed its diesel hybrid version of the Vision Grand Sports Tourer at the North American Int'l Auto Show in January 2004.

General Motors has been selling American hybrid cars like Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups to fleet customers and soon to consumers.

Ford's American hybrid cars include the Escape Hybrid SUV which may get at least 35-40 mpg in the city and approximately 30 mpg on the highway.

Lexus is displaying it's SUV Hybrid. The Lexus will get aproximately 28 mpg and boasts zero-to-sixty acceleration in less than eight seconds.

American hybrid cars makers think putting gas-electric hybrid technology into trucks and SUVs will help more than developing the technology for smaller, already more gas-efficient autos. Check back with this page for updates on American hybrid cars as news comes out.
